Why Your Business Needs a Responsive Designed Website

May 20th, 2014 | BrandQuery

If you’re reading this article then you’ve heard from many sources how crucial it is to have your website formatted for the growing number of users visiting websites on their tablets and smartphones. The amount of mobile users is showing no sign of slowing down and will only increase exponentially over time.

We understand how important it is that you don’t lose those potential customers because your website doesn’t meet their needs. The solution is a Responsive designed website. Responsive designed websites meet the needs of your users by automatically changing their visual layout based on the device it’s being viewed on… whether that be a desktop computer, tablet, smartphone or HD TV.

What we’ve seen in the past are companies having separate websites for desktop and mobile users. This concept used to work… but a common problem with doing so was that the developer had to manage two websites and not all the website content the desktop users were seeing would be seen by the mobile users. Seriously?! That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. With a responsive designed website it’s one website for all devices. All users get the same content… it’s just formatted specifically for them.

Let’s take a look at Skagit Bank as an example of a responsive website. Skagit Bank just underwent a major rebranding by BrandQuery. That rebrand spanned across everything; identity, marketing, environmental signage, television commercials, clothing, their website and more… a fresh new look for a forward-thinking future. For their website, we needed to make sure that everything on it was as easily accessible to their mobile users as it was to users on their desktop computers.

The design is consistent across all devices. Users can easily navigate and search the website. For mobile users we’ve also included a handy “Click to Call” feature.
