Facebook Tutorial: How to Like A Page Post as Yourself

July 30th, 2013 | BrandQuery

Today I gave BrandQuery employees Amy and Matt Administrative access to the company Facebook Page. As both frequently “Like” and comment on Page posts, I figured I would provide them a brief tutorial on how to continue doing so.

If you are an Admin for a Facebook Page through your personal profile, you can still engage with the Page as yourself. In this post, I’ll show you how.

When you see a post from your Page in your personal Facebook News Feed and you “Like” or comment on that post, as an Admin, by default, you do so as the Page.

There are plenty of reasons to want to engage as yourself instead:

  • When you engage your Page as yourself, it may show up in your Profile friends’ News Feeds. This can help grow your page if they like what they see.
  • You may wish to respond to a commenter as representing yourself and your own opinion rather than as the Page Admin.

Toggling between posting as the Page and as yourself is easy. When you wish to engage the Page as yourself, visit the page. At the top, just above your Admin Panel, you’ll see white text that reads “You are posting, commenting, and liking as…” as depicted in the screenshot below:

From here, you can engage your Page all you like. This will allow you to:

  • “Like” posts, images, and other items on your Page.
  • Comment on existing posts and images.
  • Post on your Page’s wall.

When it comes to the final bullet above, this is where things get tricky. If you navigate away from your Page and come back later to post, you will still be set to engage the Page as yourself.

You must change back to posting as your Page.

I’ll be the first to admit: I forget to change back on occasion. To change back, you follow the same process:

Now you know how to engage your Page as yourself.
