A Reason to Differentiate Your Product Packaging Designs

Great Value Butter Spray Looks Like Great Value Furniture PolishThe Internet is often a great source on how to do things better. Take product packaging and design, for example. Amy stumbled across the image below and we thought it would be an appropriate reminder on why to keep the products and services you provide differentiated.

This meme shows on the left a butter-flavored cooking spray and on the right a lemon-scented furniture polish. The brand, packaging, choice of color, and even use of imagery are similar. Of course, it’s not a problem unless you’re the customer who happens to grab both and accidentally mixes the two at home.

But for that individual, it’s a big problem (unless, like Matt said, you enjoy lemon-scented pancakes).

It’s a great idea to consider whether there might be products or services you offer that could use a little more differentiation.
